Sparks in the Park

This year's Sparks in the Park Celebration - Tuscola's Annual 4th of July Celebration - will take place on Saturday, July 6th, 2013. We will kick off the events on Friday evening , the 5th of July, with a 5K Run/Walk held in Downtown Tuscola, beginning at the Tuscola Community Building.. On Saturday, enjoy everything from basketball and mud volleyball to kids games, a parade and the Tuscola Community Band. Saturday afternoon will feature a car show by the Wheel's Car Club, antique tractor show and live entertainment with THE HENNINGSENS, and opening act, Battle Creek Band!

From live music to a mud volleyball tournament, there are plenty of activities and events for people of all ages. If it gets too hot, you and your gang can take a
dip in our swimming pool!

7/09/13 UPDATE: It was a great Sparks in the Park this year! The weather was perfect, the vendor food was great, the games were fun, the parade was very nice and the entertainment was excellent! A very large crowd enjoyed music and laughs with Battle Creek Band, loved the sounds from The Henningsens and were impressed with the booming fireworks display! Thanks to all of the volunteers who worked hard to make the day a success!

Did you know...

Joseph G. Cannon of Tuscola was Douglas County's first State's Attorney - he was elected on the same ticket in 1860 that saw the election of Abraham Lincoln to the Presidency.  "Uncle Joe" was Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1903 to 1911 and was a Tuscola resident during his first two terms in the Congress.
